Captain of the Black Stars, Jordan Ayew, has spoken out about the alleged tensions within the Black Stars squad, emphasizing that they are one big family.

The Black Stars camp has not been without its share of challenges, with reports suggesting that players often form cliques and divisions. According to these reports, this situation has led to some rifts among the players.

However, addressing the issue during an interview with Joy Sports, the Leicester City forward acknowledged while there exist cliques in the team, the issue of friction is baseless.

“Obviously, we are not best friends because everyone is different and has people they’re close to. But just like a family, the fact that you’re closer to your sister doesn’t mean you don’t love your brother. There’s no problem or friction. We’re like brothers,” he said.

With Otto Addo choosing the 33-year-old to lead the team, Ayew is expected to start the game when the Black Stars face Chad on Friday, March 21, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Following Madagascar’s victory over the Central African Republic on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, and Mali’s victory over Comoros on Thursday, March 20, 2025, the Black Stars sit second in Group I of the 2026 World Cup qualification standings with nine points. A win against Chad will see them go top.
