Celebrated Ghanaian musician and Pan-African music icon Edem Goget’em has officially released his first single of 2025, titled “Higher”, featuring the sensational Afrobeat/Afro-swing artist KiDi.

The highly anticipated track is a fusion of highlife and contemporary Afro-sounds, delivering a powerful message of hope and resilience in the face of life’s challenges.

Inspired by a popular Ghanaian church praise song, Edem shared the heartfelt moment that led to the creation of “Higher.”

“I was watching a performance by a youth choir when I saw them sing this powerful praise song. It struck me- why not turn this into a beautiful highlife song that could resonate across all markets worldwide? And I believe I’ve done just that,” he explained.

Beyond its rich melodic composition, “Higher” carries a strong social message. Edem highlights the difficulties faced by many young people today, stating, “We are in times where life feels challenging for so many.

Poverty is creeping into the minds of the youth, and the fear of not succeeding is pushing people into things they don’t truly want to do. This song is a reminder to hold on to hope and everything will eventually work out, and we will count our blessings one by one.”

Edem, known for his consistent delivery of inspirational and motivational music, does not disappoint with this single.

Speaking about KiDi‘s feature on the track, he added with a laugh, “KiDi on the song-because why not?”

He went on to praise KiDi‘s performance, saying, “He delivered beautifully. His message was straight to the point, and it fired up the hope that joy will come to us like a river.”

“Higher” is a song for the soul-an uplifting anthem that brings encouragement to listeners, serving as the perfect daily motivation.
