Former Asante Kotoko forward, Kojo Poku Mahala, has shared his thoughts on how the Ghana Football Association (GFA), together with the clubs, can tackle the issue of low attendance at various Ghana Premier League (GPL) stadiums.

Over the past couple of years, the GPL has experienced significantly low turnouts at match venues on matchdays. Despite several efforts to address this, there have been no significant improvements.

However, in an interview with Kessben TV, Kojo Poku suggested that clubs could introduce a system allowing free entry for women.

He believes that this approach would attract more people to the stadiums and boost match attendance.

“If you bring in female students from KNUST and other tertiary schools for free, you will see the stadiums fill up,” Poku said. “It’s a known fact that where women are, men will also come. So, if we get the ladies in the stands, the men will follow suit. It will create an exciting environment at the stadium,” he added.

In the meantime, the outstanding matchday 20 fixtures for the GPL will kick off today, March 19, 2025, with some exciting matchups. Newly promoted side Young Apostles are facing Asante Kotoko with Bechem United taking on Hearts of Oak.
