Ghanaian musician-turned-politician, Kwame A Plus, has criticised the New Patriotic Party (NPP) over claims made by former finance minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, about the controversial betting tax.

Dr. Amin Adam, addressing the press after the presentation of the 2025 budget, claimed that the betting tax was never implemented by his administration, despite the current finance minister stating that the government intends to abolish it.

Reacting to this in a Facebook post on March 11, 2025, A Plus wrote, “My brothers were out on the streets promising to abolish a tax that was neither implemented nor collected.

To support his statement, A Plus shared Dr. Amin Adam’s comments, along with a picture of NPP’s Dennis Miracles Aboagye holding a poster promising the removal of the very betting tax that they claimed was never implemented during their election campaign.

Aside from A Plus, several Ghanaian celebrities, including Shatta Wale, Bridget Otoo, and Captain Planet, among others, have expressed their opinions on the abolishment of the betting tax and Dr. Adam’s claim that it was never implemented.
