Gwen Stefani has enraged liberal fans after reposting a Tucker Carlson interview about Christianity.
The former No Doubt frontwoman has been hit with a backlash after she praised the sit-down between the right wing commentator and actor Jonathan Roumie.
Roumie, a devout Catholic, spoke to Carlson for almost an hour and a half about Lent, his role playing Jesus in his crowd-funded TV show and prayer app Hallow, which Stefani has also promoted.
‘Wow Jonathan Roumie, you are a powerful inspirational human, what an enlightening intelligent beautiful interview thank you for being you gx,’ Stefani wrote on X.
Roumie is known for playing Jesus as well as evangelist Lonnie Frisbee in the 2023 film Jesus Revolution.
But Stefani’s support for him has left some fans furious and accusing her of becoming a ‘right wing grifter’.
‘Gwen is in her Trump era,’ one person wrote under the post.
‘I love you but I hope you know that your faith and Tucker Carlson’s platform full of hate are completely opposite of each other,’ another added.

Carlson interviewed Christian actor Jonathan Roumie about his faith for almost an hour and a half, as well as the prayer app Hallow which Roumie and Stefani have promoted
‘Your voice influences many and in times of division and uncertainty, we shouldn’t promote those who invest so much in dividing us more.’
‘When you find out #GwenStefani turned into an #alt-right #ChristianNationalist,’ another person wrote on Bluesky.
‘Gwen Stefani went from everyone punk girlfriend to marrying a country artist, have a lot of plastic surgery, get more money, vote Trump. This is what selling out looks like,’ another added.
The singer came in for similar criticism back in December when she promoted Hallow, a Catholic prayer and meditation app which costs $69.99 a year for the premium subscription.
Among those criticizing her was Selling Sunset star’s Chrishell Stause who expressed incredulity at the ‘pay to pray’ app.
However, many pointed out that the Hollaback Girl hitmaker has long been open about her faith.
‘Gwen, thank you for posting this and allowing the world to see how unhinged people have gotten over politics,’ one person wrote on X.
‘Just take a look at the responses from your “fans” in here. I love you because you’re an OG OC badass. Hate to see ur fans lash out because you lauded an interview.’
‘Some of you are so stupid. She wasn’t highlighting anyone except J Roumie,’ another fumed. Did you even watch.
‘He’s a Catholic and Gwen is a Catholic and it’s the beginning of Lent. Why can’t everyone just be themselves without all the presumption and judgement??’
Stefani was raised Catholic and attended mass regularly, even while on tour.
She reportedly waited until her marriage to ex-husband Gavin Rossdale was annulled by the Vatican before tying the knot with current partner Blake Shelton.
Stefani has never discussed her political beliefs and refuses to say whether she’s a Democrat or Republican.
In a 2021 interview with Paper magazine the singer said she believed people had a right to keep their politics private.
She added that she ‘isn’t a political science’ major and doesn’t think Americans want to hear the political views of a pop star.
