Members of the Volta Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have expressed strong dissatisfaction with the financial account rendered by Maxwell Kofi Lugudor, the former Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Ketu South, regarding funds allocated for the December 7, 2024, general elections in the constituency.

According to Lugudor, a total amount of GHC1,179,760 was allocated to Ketu South for election-related activities.

However, party members have raised concerns over how the funds were distributed and spent.

    Breakdown of Expenses

The expenditure report detailed several allocations, including:

Polling Agents’ Allowance: GHC351,600 (for 293 polling stations)

    Food for Polling Agents: GHC175,800

    Airtime for GOTV Operations: GHC14,650

    GOTV Coordinator Allocation: GHC22,000

    Constituency Executives: GHC85,000

    Electoral Area Coordinators: GHC19,500

    Internal Party Security: GHC15,000

    Transport for Food Sharing: GHC5,000

Money Shared for GOTV Operations: GHC131,000

Payments to Police Personnel (“Ways and Means”): GHC117,200

    Electoral Commission Expenses: GHC146,500

    Soldiers from Ho: GHC20,000

Additionally, the report indicated that GHC40,000 was allocated to four police commanders in the municipality, with GHC10,000 each going to the Denu, Aflao, Agbozume, and Divisional Police Commands.

After all expenses, an amount of GHC6,010 was reported as the remaining balance.

NPP members in the constituency have rejected the report, questioning the credibility and transparency of the expenditures.

Many have accused the former MCE of mismanaging party funds and failing to provide a clear justification for some of the expenses.

The breakdown of funds, particularly the amounts allocated to security personnel, Electoral Commission officials, and party executives, has sparked concerns about accountability and the proper use of party resources during the elections.

Some members have called for a detailed audit of the expenditures, demanding that the party leadership take action to ensure that funds meant for campaign activities are used efficiently and transparently in future elections.

Meanwhile, Hon. Kofi Lugudor has yet to respond to the concerns raised by party members regarding his report.
