Michail Antonio, on Monday, March 11, 2025, made an emotional return to the London Stadium as West Ham faced Newcastle United.

It was the striker’s first public appearance since his serious car accident in December 2024, which left him hospitalized with a broken leg.

Antonio was visibly moved as supporters welcomed him onto the pitch, unveiling a large banner behind one goal that read: “Michail Antonio – our number 9.”

The striker is West Ham’s all-time top Premier League scorer with 68 goals. Head coach Graham Potter had expressed his desire to see his marksman back again while also revealing the club’s support for Antonio.

“When you see what Michail Antonio has been through, it puts things into perspective. So our focus has always been just making sure he’s OK, and he’s on that recovery road, and he gets all the support he needs from us. It’s a big thing that he’s had to deal with, and he’s dealt with it fantastically,” he said after the game.

Antonio has not featured for the Hammers since their 3-1 defeat to Leicester City on December 3.
