    Police appoints 16 Regional Sports Security Officers
    Dr. George Akuffo Dampare

    The Ghana Police Ser­vice, under the instruc­tion of the Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare, has appoint­ed dedicated senior officers in each region of the country to be responsible for Sports Policing.

    The role termed as the Regional Sports Security Officer will be responsible for the overall coordinating and operations of match day security for all GFA sanctioned competitions.

    All 16 officers have been invited to the zonal work­shop for safety and security officers which was held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

    “This ground breaking announcement forms part of the joint robust approach of the Ghana Police Service and Ghana Football Association to improve the Safety and Secu­rity at match venues across the country,” a statement from the FA noted.

    Officers appointed for the new roles include DSP Raymond Dorkenoo (Great­er Accra Region); ASP Kofi Aboagye (Ashanti region); ASP Isaac Gyawu (Bono region); ASP Joseph Eshun (Western region); ASP Kofi Agyare Okyere (Eastern region); ASP Aboagye Isaac Frimpong (Central region); ASP Moses Kwame Affenyi (Ahafo region) and ASP Augustine Kofi Awuah (Volta region).

    The rest are ASP Benjamin Asiedu (Bono East region); ASP Freeman Wemegah (Oti region); DSP Robert Anabik (North East region); ASP Iddi Ziblim (Upper West region); ASP Henry Bilson (Western North region); Supt. Richard Lantei Odartey (Northern re­gion); ASP Benjamin Amissah (Savannah region) and ASP Erasmus Bortsie Donkor (Up­per East region.
