US soccer star Kristie Mewis has announced she’s ‘trying to be more social’ with a light-hearted pregnancy update, as she prepares to welcome her first child with fiancée Sam Kerr.
The sporting power couple announced their jovial baby news in November, sharing snaps of them both grinning with their ultrasound scan.
But since the announcement, they both have been relatively quiet on social media.
On Sunday, 32 weeks pregnant Mewis took to Instagram to showcase her burgeoning baby bump with a video as her due date fast approaches.
‘Let me show you guys what I wake up looking like,’ Mewis laughed, while wearing an eye mask and pyjamas.
‘So this is me every night. These are my blue light glasses, which I wear before I go to bed. And they actually work, like I’m getting way more REM sleep, and this is just who I am now.

‘I’m a pregnant blue light glass person, you know, and I do understand that this is just a phase. Like, maybe I’ll look cuter one day when I wake up for my fiancee.
‘But, like, I also might not. I don’t know.’
Mewis then went on to reveal her workout gear, revealing she’s a ‘bump out’ person, displaying her pregnancy tummy.
The footballer also gave some insights into her pregnancy symptoms.
‘I’m 32 weeks’ pregnant now, which is crazy. Only eight weeks left to go and I’ve been starting to get like Braxton Hicks contractions,’ Mewis said.
‘I feel like I’ve only had one maybe before this but starting yesterday I started getting a couple of them throughout the day.
‘My stomach gets so tight that it almost turns into a square. But it’s really quick and then goes away.’
The couple started dating during the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, where they were seen together on the field after a match between Australia and the United States.

Kerr, 31, was found not guilty of racially aggravated abuse after calling a police officer ‘stupid and white’ during a heated row at a London police station in January of 2023
It is understood that they first met while they were both competing for clubs in the National Women’s Soccer League in the USA back in 2019.
They had spoken online for nearly four months during the 2020 Covid-19 pandemic, with the pair also believed to have spent two weeks in lockdown together.
Both publicly confirmed their relationship in August 2021 through an Instagram post and announced their engagement in November 2023.
Just one month after getting engaged, Massachusetts-native Mewis signed with West Ham United and moved to London to be closer to Sam.
But Kerr has been sidelined since January 2024 after she suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury during a training camp with the south-west London club.
She was forced to undergo surgery and enter a rehabilitation period, ruling her out of the remainder of the 2023-2024 season.
In February this year, Kerr was found not guilty of racially aggravated abuse after calling a police officer ‘stupid and white’ during a heated row at a London police station in January of 2023.
