Nana Gyamfi Adwabour has announced his resignation as Executive Director of Centref for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS), effective March 6, 2025.

Since assuming leadership in 2021, Nana Gyamfi Adwabour has transformed CENDLOS into a leading force in EdTech and Distance Learning, not only in Ghana but across Africa.

One of his most significant accomplishments was the launch of Channel MOE, the official TV channel of the Ministry of Education, on December 2, 2024. The channel rapidly gained popularity, becoming one of Ghana’s most-watched educational platforms.

Adwabour also played a key role in the Ghana Smart School Project, which ensured that every senior high school student received a tablet for digital learning.

Throughout his tenure, he spearheaded high-profile collaborations with global organizations such as UNESCO, UNICEF, and the World Bank. His leadership was instrumental in advancing projects like the Technology-Enabled Open School Systems and the Ghana Learning Passport Project, further solidifying Ghana’s reputation as a hub for EdTech in Africa.

Under his guidance, the CENDLOS workforce expanded from just four employees to over 30. Colleagues and staff describe him as a leader who is altruistic, empowering, and empathetic.

He also partnered with the World Bank to develop a comprehensive EdTech policy and played a crucial role in training over 75,000 teachers to integrate technology into their teaching practices.

In recognition of his contributions to the EdTech space, Nana Gyamfi Adwabour was honored as the Technology and Innovation CEO at the Ghana CEOs Awards in July 2023, celebrating his groundbreaking work at CENDLOS.

As an expert in EdTech, he was instrumental in streamlining the sector by aligning key stakeholders and driving a unified strategic direction. Among his major initiatives was the introduction of the National Distance and Digital Learning Policy, which now serves as a guiding framework for digital learning across Ghana.

Expressing his gratitude, Nana Gyamfi Adwabour acknowledged the support of former President Nana Akufo-Addo and former Education Minister Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum during his tenure.

He also extended his appreciation to CENDLOS stakeholders for their collaboration and dedication, which contributed to the organization’s successes.

Additionally, he expressed heartfelt thanks to his committed staff, whose hard work and dedication were crucial to CENDLOS’ achievements.

As he steps away, he wished the future Executive Director continued success and reaffirmed his willingness to offer support whenever needed by the Ministry of Education or CENDLOS.
