Ghanaian media personality and Disc Jokey, DJ KA, has expressed displeasure with musician, Akwaboah, for refusing to pay him after working as the Master of Ceremony (MC) during his father’s funeral.

One may recall that Akwaboah Junior laid his late father, Akwaboah Senior, to rest on September 30, 2023, at Trede, a suburb of Kumasi.

In a video shared on March 6, 2025, DJ KA narrated how Akwaboah Junior reached out to him to MC his father’s funeral.

“I was there one time when Akwaboah called me to MC his father’s funeral. After work that day, I went to his house and he asked me how much I would charge him. I didn’t give him a specific amount but [told him that] after the burial ceremony, he should give me something for my work.

“After the discussion, his PA gave me GH¢200 for fuel. During the burial ceremony, I went early to do my job. That afternoon during the funeral ceremony, I saw some MCs also there and they were even hesitant to give me the microphone to which I informed Akwaboah, but he told me not to worry because he had hired me,” he said.

DJ KA added that after working for Akwaboah Junior, he has, however, refused to pay him for his work.

“After the program, I noticed Akwaboah was busy, I left home hoping he would call me on Monday but he didn’t. I called him on Tuesday and he told me he has traveled to Accra. He asked me to stay put and he would send me something. My mother was celebrating her birthday so I asked if he could do a video for me, can you believe he didn’t mind up to now? Can you imagine I only got GH¢200 from the program?” he disclosed.
