Tension is rising at the Forestry Commission in Ghana due to a controversy surrounding the promotions of four officers. The officers in question were elevated to director positions by the Public Services Commission without prior approval from the then-President Nana Akufo-Addo.

This move has been deemed unconstitutional, as the Constitution requires that such promotions be approved by the President. The Public Services Commission has since reversed the promotions, but the Acting Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Hugh Brown, has yet to take action.

The four officers affected by the reversed promotions are Carl Ahadze, Christian Fumey-Nassah, Yaw Kwakye, and Yaw Atuahene Nyarko. They were promoted to director positions without following the proper procedures, sparking concerns about the integrity of the promotion process.

The Public Services Commission’s decision to reverse the promotions was made after it was discovered that the proper procedures had not been followed. However, despite this decision, the four officers continue to perform their duties as directors.

The failure of the Acting Chief Executive Officer to take action has raised concerns about the rule of law and the integrity of the promotion process. It has also created tension among staff at the Forestry Commission.

The situation has sparked debate about the need for transparency and accountability in the promotion process. It has also highlighted the importance of following proper procedures to ensure that promotions are made based on merit.

The Forestry Commission is a critical institution in Ghana, responsible for managing the country’s forests and promoting sustainable forestry practices. The controversy surrounding the promotions has raised concerns about the leadership of the institution.

The Acting Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Hugh Brown, has been criticized for his failure to take action. His inaction has been seen as a failure to uphold the rule of law and to ensure that the promotion process is transparent and accountable.

The controversy surrounding the promotions at the Forestry Commission is a reminder of the need for transparency and accountability in public institutions. It highlights the importance of following proper procedures and upholding the rule of law to ensure that promotions are made based on merit.
