An alleged fight between parents at a Dallas cheerleading competition reportedly sparked a massive stampede.
Police cars were seen hurrying to the scene as hundreds of people in sparkly cheer uniforms and terrified parents poured out of Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center on Saturday.
The arena is hosting National Cheerleading Association (NCA) All-Star National Championship currently being held.
After the mass chaos, many took to social media believing there was an active shooter.
However, police have since confirmed to the local outlet WFAA that there was no active shooter and no shots were fired.
The Dallas Police Department did not immediately respond to the DailyMail.com’s request for comment.
Up to 30,000 cheerleaders and their parents were in town for the event.
While social media flooded with tweets worried about the potential and ultimately false reports of an active shooter, those attending were also unaware if the threat was real.
One X user called the resulting mayhem the ‘scariest experience of my life.’
‘I hope everyone and their family and friends are okay,’ they added, before writing, ‘Oh my God.’

In the wake of the confusion, the Dallas Police Department posted a statement saying authorities were ‘investigating an incident near the Omni Hotel and Kay Bailey Hutchinson Convention Center.’
‘A family reunification center has been established at Dallas Police Headquarters, 1400 Botham Jean Blvd,’ they added.
In addition the thousands of school-age cheerleaders competing, NBCDFW reported that an expected 60,000 were anticipated.
‘We’ve been coming for 25 years,’ True Hall, a cheer coach, told the outlet before Saturday’s scare. ‘Super excited. It’s our favorite national by far.’
While no arrests have been announced so far, another X user shared a tweet that said a girl had been injured.
