KOKA says Iddrisu’s advice to Dumelo was misinterpreted KOKA says Iddrisu’s advice to Dumelo was misinterpreted

Entertainment critic and NPP communications team member, Kwaku Osei Korankye Asiedu, popularly known as KOKA, has weighed in on the recent controversy between John Dumelo and MP of Tolon, Habib Iddrisu.

Iddrisu came under fire from some industry personalities and netizens on social media after he advised the Deputy Minister of Agriculture-designate, John Dumelo, during his vetting to focus on his role as he was “no longer in the movie industry” and that he should be “as serious as he can.”

However, speaking in an interview with Max TV on February 28, 2025, KOKA defended Iddrisu’s comments, stating that the MP did not say anything wrong.

According to him, Iddrisu’s advice to Dumelo was misinterpreted.

According to KOKA, Iddrisu’s remarks were meant to guide Dumelo in his new role, emphasizing the need for humility, seriousness, and focus.

“Iddrisu did not say anything wrong. Real life is like drama on its own. The MP was simply advising Dumelo to take his new role seriously, work closely with his boss, and avoid letting his star personality overshadow his boss unintentionally,” KOKA explained.

He further clarified that Iddrisu’s intention was to caution Dumelo against treating his new responsibilities like a movie role, urging him to approach the position with dedication and professionalism.

“He was telling Dumelo to be humble, apply seriousness, and focus on assisting his boss. He shouldn’t take it as a movie because, in real life, everything requires commitment,” KOKA added.

KOKA also criticised those who lambasted the MP, suggesting that they may not have fully understood the context of his statement.

“It seems those attacking the MP were not mature enough to grasp what he said. I didn’t see anything wrong with his statement,” he stated.

Meanwhile, various creative arts personalities, including George Quaye, Nana Poku Ashis, Kwame Dadzie, D-Black, and the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie, among others, have lambasted Iddrisu for his statement and demanded an apology.
