The 19-year-old girl who died after she was attacked by a dog attack in Bristol on Wednesday evening has been named and pictured.

Morgan Dorsett, from Shropshire, died at the scene after she was attacked by what was believed to be an XL Bully-type dog in the Hartcliffe area of south Bristol at around 7.19pm on February 26.

The dog was sedated and seized but police have since confirmed the dog has been destroyed.

A man and woman, both aged in their 20s, were arrested on suspicion of being in charge of a dog dangerously out of control causing injury resulting in death and possession of a prohibited breed of dog. They have since been released on conditional police bail

Initial reports suggested the dog was an XL Bully but vets are yet to confirm the breed.

Her family have now spoken out to thank the public for their support but asked for privacy.

While the formal identification process is yet to be completed, officers were told her identity at the scene.

Avon and Somerset Police said: ‘Work to confirm the type of the dog involved continues. It has been put down.
