Veteran football administrator Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer has revealed that former Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantaki represented him in his assassination plot case against Kurt Okraku.
Kurt reported Palmer to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), alleging that Palmer had plotted to assassinate him after being disqualified from the GFA presidential election in 2019.
Speaking with Hot FM, Palmer stated that he is not on good terms with Kurt and disclosed that former GFA president Kwesi Nyantakyi represented him in the case, which he eventually won.
“Our relationship is in bad taste because he accused me of wanting to kill him. He took the matter as high as the IGP. Kwesi Nyantakyi represented me as my lawyer,” Palmer said.
Recounting his first encounter with the police, the Tema Youth bankroller said he was shocked when he discovered that Kurt Okraku was behind the allegation.
“When his name was mentioned, they said, ‘Kurt Okraku has reported that you want to kill him.’ I was shocked. I demanded to see the text messages because I know how I write, but they were never shown to me.”
He reiterated that, given the circumstances, he cannot reconcile with Kurt and does not consider him a friend.
“If someone like that invites me for a peace talk or a roundtable discussion, I don’t think I should go. How can I have a relationship with such a person?”
In 2023, Kurt Okraku lodged a formal complaint with the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service regarding an alleged assassination plot.
Reports suggested that an individual identified as David had been hired by Osei Palmer to murder Kurt Okraku.
The report further indicated that Kurt learned about the alleged plot after David confessed to him.
David was reportedly offered GH¢200,000 to carry out the assassination.
