The Majority Leader of Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has emphasized Ghana’s commitment to welcoming foreign investors willing to support the government’s vision of creating job opportunities and developing the country.

The Majority Leader made this statement when he received a delegation of Moroccan businesses led by the Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Imane Ouaadil, on Monday, February 24, 2025. He described the visit as an endorsement of Morocco’s confidence in Ghana.

“We campaigned and won on a commitment to create jobs, build a strong economy, and improve the living conditions of our people. We do realize that we can’t do this alone. We need strong partners—we need partners at home and abroad—and so anytime we see people like you come to visit, we are excited. There are many countries you know of, but you haven’t gone there to see what opportunities exist. To take a decision to come and see the opportunities here is a stamp of confidence in us and our people,” he stated.

With membership of the delegation drawn from businesses across various sectors, the Majority Leader assured them that Ghana has opportunities to meet the expectations of every sector, while noting that Ghana’s economic challenges are opportunities for businesses with the right solutions.

The Majority Leader further assured his readiness to facilitate collaboration between investors and stakeholders, including MPs who are deemed development advocates, as well as the government’s commitment to creating an enabling business environment in Ghana.

“Just to assure you, we in this country are doing our best to create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive, to create a peaceful country, a democratic country—a country that opens up our systems to foreign investors, and even more so to fellow Africans, giving you an opportunity to be part of our economic progress,” he said.

He underscored Ghana’s readiness to take full advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Area and to make the nation accessible to investors.

Her Excellency Imane Ouaadil, for her part, expressed her gratitude to the Majority Leader for warmly welcoming the delegation and shared her hopes of fostering a working relationship that will serve as a platform for cooperation between the two countries.

“We will certainly come back to you as the Majority Leader, and I hope we will have some agreements signed. We can come to you for assistance in passing these agreements in Parliament. In the meantime, whenever they are back here to conduct business or meet some of the interested parties in the Ghanaian government and the business sector, we would love to come and say hello to you. So thank you again for the opportunity,” she said.

Some industries represented in the ambassador’s delegation included banking, mining, manufacturing, energy, and hospitality sectors.
