The prestigious Western Music Awards, organized by Westline Entertainment, has officially opened nominations for its 9th edition, introducing a significant new category—Best Female Artiste of the Year.

This latest addition aims to spotlight and celebrate the exceptional contributions of female artistes in the Western Region’s music industry. The inclusion of this category reflects a growing effort to recognize the impact of women in music and provide them with a dedicated platform for acknowledgement.

The 9th edition of the awards scheme features a total of 31 categories, with eligibility covering musical works and contributions made between February 2024 and January 2025. According to Nana Kwesi Coomson, Head of Public Relations for the organizers, this year’s theme is “Rhythm of Success.”

“Over the years, we have seen an increasing number of talented female artistes emerging in the region. The introduction of the Best Female Artiste of the Year category is a step towards ensuring their hard work does not go unnoticed,” Mr. Coomson said.

Nominations are open until March 17, 2025, and submissions are to be made exclusively through an online process. The fully digital submission format aims to streamline the application process and make participation more accessible to all eligible stakeholders.

The Western Music Awards continues to be a major platform for promoting and celebrating musical excellence in the region. The introduction of this new category is expected to create a more inclusive and diverse representation of talent in the industry.
