Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central Kwame Asare Obeng, known popularly as A Plus, believes that this is the first time Ghana has had a government that is ready to govern and not engage in partisan politics.

According to him, the majority in Parliament has the numbers to do whatever they want without the minority; however, they overlook certain things for the governance process to go on.

To A Plus, this posturing is a result of the president’s vision, who wants everyone on board to improve Ghana.

To him, this is an indication that Ghana is seeing a reset, which was not seen under the previous government.

“This is the first we have a group of people who want to govern and not engage in partisan politics. Everyone expected the majority to raise their shoulders, but weakness and strength are not always about fighting. The Majority is ready to govern, and that is what is happening. They are in to reset that is why they make a number of things slide. It is not because of the majority but the vision of the president. Usually, after elections, the IGP, and CDS and others are removed, but that hasn’t happened,” he stated on United Showbiz on UTV.

To A Plus, the reset should have started under Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo because Ghana would have been a better place by now.

However, that wasn’t the case as the former president came in and dabbled with partisan politics to the detriment of governance in the country.

“I thought the reset would have started with Nana Akufo-Addo, but Akufo-Addo came to destroy things further by removing the EC boss and removing the Auditor General. Usually, it was the security that had such arrangements, but Akufo-Addo came to add the EC and auditor general. What is expected is that John Mahama should add the Chief Justice. But we need to know that this should not be the case. If the IGP and others are working hard, they need to leave based on merit but not because the government has changed. When you come to Parliament, it is not that the majority is weak, but the majority is trying as much as possible to reset,” he said.
