I am deeply disturbed by the actions of Justin Frimpong Kodua and Salam. At a time when the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is still nursing its wounds from an unprecedented electoral defeat, the General Secretary, who is supposed to be a neutral figure in our rebuilding process, is instead seen accompanying Dr. Bawumia’s entourage to a Harvard conference in the United States.
The question is simple: In what capacity did they travel with him—especially JFK? Who funded this trip? Is this the same party that vowed never to allow executives to openly align themselves with candidates after the disgraceful bias shown in the last internal elections?
The party has yet to receive the full committee report on our defeat, yet here we are, watching party executives once again throw caution to the wind.
The party has no flagbearer at the moment! We are at a critical stage where unity, reflection, and restructuring should be our focus. If Justin Kodua is truly the General Secretary of the NPP and not a campaign team member for a particular candidate, will he also be seen traveling with Hon. Kennedy Agyapong to Fiapre this week? What about Addai Nimo or Boakye Agyarko when they go about their business? The signal JFK and Salam are sending is dangerous and reckless.
The NPP needs a General Secretary who is tactical, strategic, and prioritizes the party over individual interests. We cannot afford another four years of poor decision-making. We are still grappling with the catastrophic defeat he has led us into. How many seats did we lose in Parliament? It seems he does not understand the depth of the problem! This is our worst performance yet!
We must be cautious in how we approach these issues—this is not leadership!
