By MATT JONES FOR DAILY MAIL AUSTRALIA

    Published: 02:38 EST, 15 February 2025 | Updated: 02:38 EST, 15 February 2025

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese and fiancee Jodie Haydon have shared a social media video that some said was ‘cringy’ while others described it as ‘cute’.

Mr Albanese and Ms Haydon answered questions from the public about their relationship to commemorate one year since they became engaged while wishing Australians a happy Valentine’s Day.

Most questions were answered quickly and confidently such as who was messier, which went to Ms Haydon, while Mr Albanese admitted to being the most stubborn of the pair.

But one fan’s question made them both slightly pause.

‘Who said I love you first?’ Ms Haydon said, reading from a question card.

Both their faces appeared a little awkward before the Prime Minister said: ‘Same time’.

    ‘Same time,’ Ms Haydon agreed.

‘It was definitely the same time, yeah.’

Anthony Albanese and fiancee Jodie Haydon have shared a social media video that some said was ‘cringy’ while others liked it

Dressed in a tight-fitting black polo shirt with a pair of white and green Adidas sneakers, Mr Albanese admitted his wife had the best fashion sense.

It was also revealed Ms Haydon was the most generous with treats for Mr Albanese’s dog Toto, but the pair differed on who was the ‘biggest Bunnies fan’, with Ms Haydon pointing to herself, while Mr Albanese pointed towards the dog.

The loved-up couple couldn’t agree on who was the most likely to get lost, even using a GPS.

Ms Haydon said they both had a good sense of direction when it came to finding their way about, while Mr Albanese pointed directly at his fiancee, declaring: ‘I’ve never got lost.’

Not everyone on social media lapped it up however with one person posting: ‘This bloke is so cringe’.

‘People can’t afford to take their partners out for dinner on valentines day with the economy you’re running, mate’, another wrote.

Others were quick to defend the couple.

‘This wins the internet for today – you guys are adorable in this (also glad to see Toto’s hair is growing back). I have to get the Albo 2025 bandanna to her,’ one person wrote.

Another said: ‘This is so cool. This is what we need more of on the net. Name me another country where the PM would do this. Love Australia! Still the lucky country in the current world climate’.

Mr Albanese asked Ms Haydon to marry him at The Lodge after a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner.

He told the media at the time the couple ‘couldn’t be more happy’.

‘It’s such a joy to be able to share this news with people, and it’s wonderful that I’ve found a partner who I want to spend the rest of my life with,’ Mr Albanese said.

Mr Albanese and Ms Haydon dated for almost four years before their engagement, after meeting at an event in Melbourne, where they bonded over their love of the South Sydney Rabbitohs.

The Prime Minister helped design the ring and no doubt the location of the engagement was unique.

‘A lot of planning and thought went into everything from the date, obviously Valentine’s Day, and the ring that I helped to design, and where to do it. I asked on one of the balconies here at the Lodge,’ Mr Albanese said.

Reports last year suggested the pair had put wedding plans on hold to avoid a distraction before the Federal Election.

The Prime Minister is yet to call the election, which must be held before May 17.
