    Gifty Oware-Mensah, an Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), is famous in the country through her contributions to the state.

    She has made a name for herself in Ghana, excelling in both politics and sports, particularly in her contributions to women’s football.

    Here are five key facts about Gifty Oware-Mensah:

    1. Education: Gifty Oware-Mensah attended Ghana Secondary School for her high school and later studied History at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

    She also holds a postgraduate certificate in Management of Democratic Elections in Africa (MDeA) from the University of South Africa, an MSc. in Defense and International Politics from the Ghana Armed Forces Command and Staff College (GAFCSC), and executive development certificates from Stellenbosch University and Yale University.

    2. Career:Oware-Mensah began her career as an events and marketing manager for Reflects Marketing Plus in Accra from 2011 to 2014.

    She then joined the Danquah Institute as the director of research and media relations in 2014. Additionally, she consults as a financial and investment analyst for Oware Fruit Juice Company.

    3. National Service Scheme (NSS): Oware-Mensah served as the Deputy Executive Director of the NSS under the Akufo-Addo government from 2017 to 2025.

    However, she faced criticism following an investigation into the NSS scandal, which involved over 80,000 ghost names allegedly added to the scheme’s personnel list.

    4. Football Administration: Oware-Mensah is a member of the GFA Executive Council, co-owner of Berry Ladies Football Club, and Vice President of Berekum Chelsea.

    She is also a member of the GFA’s management committee for the Black Maidens.

    5. Politics: Gifty Oware is a staunch member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and played a key role during her time at KNUST.

    She was part of the Tertiary Education Students Confederacy of the NPP (TESCON) and contested for the National Youth Organizer position in 2014 but did not win.
