The National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) has come under fire from the minority in parliament for allegedly making inciting remarks when it summoned Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh.

Supporters of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ablekuma North had been instructed by Annoh-Dompreh to back their party members during conflicts with the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Citing the NIB’s inability to call NDC Deputy General Secretary Mustapha Gbande after he allegedly threatened the life of Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin on February 7, 2025, the Minority claims that the agency’s actions exhibit double standards.

Speaking to reporters, Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei denounced the NIB’s strategy as an unjust application of the law.

“If the NIB is truly committed to upholding law and order, they must explain why the Minority Chief Whip was swiftly summoned for interrogation over his comment while the deputy director of operations at the presidency, who openly threatened the Minority Leader’s life, was allowed to walk free without consequences.”

“This double standard raises serious concerns about the selective application of justice and the use of state institutions to police certain political figures while others are allowed to act with impunity.

“If public remarks are to be scrutinized, all individuals, regardless of their political affiliations, must be held to the same standard,” she added.
