Robbery attacks on MoMo vendors have become rampant in Ghana. Several MoMo vendors have been killed, whereas others have been injured.

In the Ashanti region, Patricia Nimako, a 27-year-old Mobile Money (MoMo) vendor, was shot and killed in Krofrom. With mobile phones and GH10,000, the alleged armed robbers fled. At approximately 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 13, the two armed men shot her inside her MoMo kiosk.

According to an eyewitness, the woman was shot in front of her store after taking out cash from the bank. “We tried to chase the perpetrators, but their gun scared us, they left and went in the direction of airport road,” said Evans.

The lady was rushed to the Manhyia Government Hospital, where doctors confirmed her passing.
