Felix Gyamfi, the Acting Director of the Ghana National Service Authority, has promised National Service members nationwide that, in accordance with President John Mahama’s direction, all unpaid allowances will be paid in full as of tomorrow.

On Wednesday, February 12, Gyamfi spoke on Joy FM’s PM Express and commended the President for moving quickly to clear the backlog. She emphasized that Mahama has always been worried about service personnel payment delays, even before taking office.

We ought to express our gratitude to President John Mahama. You’ve come to understand that his press was concerned about the delay in paying service personnel even before he was elected president, particularly given that the service allowance is a pitiful ¢715 and that inflation is a major problem in our country. He then took a seat, and after we gave him the numbers, he gave the order to pay off all of the arrears,” he said.

In order to provide thousands of service members with long-awaited relief, Mr. Gyamfi stated that the August through December salaries that were delayed would be paid out.

“Service personnel will begin receiving all arrears owed to them, starting tomorrow, from, I believe, August, September, October, November, and December,” he promised.

He claimed that corruption and ineptitude in the system were to blame for the frequent payment delays in recent years, implying that inefficiencies had denied military members their legal benefits.

“Why is it now that way? He bemoaned, “I believe that over the past eight years, everything has been a part of massive corruption and incompetence that we had to deal with because you didn’t understand why a service person’s meager allowance due to them will not be paid on time.”

Gyamfi alluded to President Mahama’s dedication to enhancing the lot of military members when he was questioned about the prospect of raising the present allowance.

“I believe that President Mahama is aware of the situation we are in and has significantly decreased the amount of theft, corruption, and scam. And he’s probably already considering whether we can get any of the money we saved back. Thus, it is somewhat in the pipe. He must be considering it,” he disclosed.

National Service members have been relieved by the promise of prompt payments, as many of them have suffered months of financial hardship as a result of the delayed allowances. In light of the government’s renewed emphasis on efficiency and anti-corruption initiatives, Gyamfi thinks that future service workers should anticipate a more dependable payment system.
