Ghanaian lawyer and member of the Convention People’s Party (CPP), Kwame Jantuah has urged Attorney-General Dominic Ayine to investigate the loss of state funds tied to high-profile corruption cases, despite the recent decision to discontinue prosecutions.

He expressed concern that even though the accused individuals have been freed, the financial loss remains a stain on the country in an interview on Asaase Radio’s The Forum monitored by MyNewsGH.

“Where these individuals have been freed, that stain of the loss is still there. So, if for nothing at all, the AG should go back in there and find out how that money was lost.

“Money has been lost, and it’s been proven. So go in there and that is what you should even do before you come and clear,” he stated.

Jantuah also addressed concerns about political bias in these cases, arguing that if there are suspicions of a witch-hunt, the best course of action is to conduct an independent investigation to uncover how the money went missing.

“If you are not sure, and you feel there is probably a witch-hunt against your own, go in there and do your investigation to see how this money got lost,” he added.
