Media personality Nana Yaa Brefo has jumped to the defence of the immediate past Managing Director of State Insurance Company Limited (SIC), Hollistar Duah-Yentumi, amid criticisms regarding her entitlements.

She indicated that the former SIC MD cannot be entirely blamed because the entitlements are given to her by the institution, not by herself.

The Onua FM journalist stated that the criticisms towards Hollistar are unfair, as other Managing Directors of state institutions receive equal or more entitlements than she does.

“The criticisms towards the SIC boss should cease. Is she the one who assigns herself such monies? I don’t even understand why she ran away. Don’t we know the salary the GOIL boss takes?

“The Bank of Ghana Governor also takes a lot. So, why is a monthly salary of GH₵70,000 a problem?” Yaa Brefo questioned while speaking on Onua FM.

Hollistar faced scrutiny following her lawsuit against the company and her successor, James Agyenim-Boateng, which included what many considered unrealistic and shocking demands.

Her decision to reportedly refuse to hand over the office keys sparked backlash.

She accused the company of wrongfully terminating her contract, which was supposed to last until January 1, 2028.

She has however withdrawn the suit.
