Veteran Nollywood actor Columbus Irosanga was confirmed late today Thursday, February 6, 2025, by fellow actress Hilda Dokubo.
The tragic news was announced by the actress in an Instagram post she made earlier in the day, where she shared her heartfelt condolences.
She wrote;
“There can’t be a shortage of Angels in heaven that the few here are called home like this na! This one is heavy on Uniport, Rivers State, Nollywood.”
The late actor was a beloved scholar who not only acted as iconic characters that shaped the childhood of many Nigerians but was also a senior lecturer in the Theatre Arts Department at the University of Port Harcourt.
There he helped shape young Nigerians into promising performers, guiding them to greatness. His most notable role is as “Igbudu“ in the 2001 classic “Isakaba”. He has also acted in numerous other films and even helped in the making of a few.
Many have described his performance as one that sticks with you for a long time, this is backed up by the many awards he received over his lifetime.
As the news circulates online, netizens and colleagues of the late actor continue to offer their condolences, all while reminiscing on the remarkable life he lived.
