The Ghana Police Service has arrested two more suspects in connection with the violent disturbances that occurred during the football match between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC on Sunday, February 2, 2025.

The suspects, Isaac Ofosu and Yeboah Augustine, are currently in police custody, assisting in the ongoing investigation.

This brings the total number of suspects arrested in connection with the incident to five. The violence occurred on 2nd February 2025, at Nsoatre in the Bono Region.

According to a statement issued by the police on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, an “intelligence-led operation” is still ongoing to arrest the remaining perpetrators and bring them to justice.

On Monday, February 3, the Ghana Police Service announced the arrest of three individuals in connection with the violent clashes.

The incident, which took place at Nana Konamansah Park in Nsoatre, Bono Region, resulted in the tragic death of Yaw Frimpong, a staunch fan of Kotoko.

The suspects are: Ignatius Baffour Awuah, a former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations and owner of Nsoatreman, Agyemang Duah Owusu, and Kyeremeh Joseph.

A search of Agyemang Duah Owusu’s residence led to the retrieval of two dresses with suspected bloodstains and an MP 23 pistol with 15 rounds of ammunition, further intensifying the ongoing probe into the deadly altercation.

To expedite the case, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) Headquarters has deployed a special team to assist the Bono Regional Police Command in uncovering the full details surrounding the violence.
