Ghanaian music producer and artiste manager, Kwasi Ernest, has reacted to claims that KiDi charged $20,000 when contacted for an event.
In a recent interview with ZionFelix, well-known radio presenter, Nana Romeo, revealed that the Lynx Entertainment artiste requested $20,000 to perform at an event in the United Kingdom.
He indicated that the amount does not include the artiste’s flight cost, accommodation, and other expenses.
The Accra FM presenter was concerned about the outrageous amount Ghanaian artistes quote when contacted by event organizers abroad. He said these organizers do not make profits from the events.
Reacting to this, Kwasi Ernest defended that there’s nothing wrong with the amount KiDi charged for an event abroad.

Commenting on a post Zion made, the Media Excel boss wrote:
“Zion this one I disagree, in as much as we all agree artist and brands charges are high we must also admit several factors which artist goes through to lift their brands and costing that comes with it , for example most of these top artist pay as much as 30,000 GH cedis for just a single recording and spend almost 100,000 GH cedis to shoot a music video because if they don’t do good jobs we will have same media people talking about it , this costing is even without the cost of marketing and promotion radio , TV online etc So all these must be factored before having these conversations.
Secondly we all know that booking artist sometimes has lots to do with relationships as well purposes for booking, if u are going to book an artist for a commercial event where you intend to make profit there is nothing wrong for the artist to give u all prices charges because that is purely business, for example a two thousand auditorium in London Manchester hosting Kidi at 50 pounds will hit a jackpot of 100, 000 pounds so there is nothing wrong if he charges 20,000 dollars, even if his ticket and other cost all hit up at 30,000 dollars there is no way the organizers will make a loss , it’s pure magic and power of negotiations so let’s be careful how we have these technical conversations else we will destroy someone’s brand , u could have read the message without mentioning names realizing the booking manager was just doing her work and she has been told by management to do ….. Try hiring a Nigerian artist and this amount by Kidi will be a chicken change brother.”
