The Sunyani District Court has ordered the former Minister of Employment and Labour Relations, Ignatius Baffour-Awuah, to remain within the municipality’s boundaries, with any travel requiring prior court approval.

The directive was issued by the court, presided over by Eric Daning, after Baffour-Awuah appeared in court on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, alongside two other suspects, Agyemang Duah Owusu, his bodyguard, and Joseph Kyeremeh.

The former minister and his co-defendants face charges in connection with the violence that led to the death of Francis Frimpong, a devoted Kumasi Asante Kotoko fan.

The incident occurred during a clash at the Nana Konamansah Park on Sunday, February 2, 2025, when a match between Nsoatreman and Asante Kotoko escalated into violence, resulting in Frimpong being fatally stabbed.

Baffour-Awuah and Kyeremeh have been charged with abetting murder under Sections 20(1) and 46 of the Criminal Offenses Act 1960. Both were granted bail set at GH¢500,000, with a requirement for one justifiable surety.

Additionally, Baffour-Awuah was ordered to temporarily surrender his passport to the court registry for 14 days.

In a separate ruling, Owusu, the bodyguard facing a direct murder charge, was denied bail and remanded into police custody. The court has scheduled the next hearing for Monday, February 17, 2025.
