A disturbing account of the fatal stabbing of Asante Kotoko supporter Yaw Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley, has emerged.
Executive Council member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) Frederick Acheampong has revealed shocking details from the medical report, shedding light on the severity of the injuries that claimed the young fan’s life.
Pooley lost his life on Sunday, February 2, 2025, after violence erupted during the Ghana Premier League match between Nsoatreman and Asante Kotoko at Nana Konamansah Park.
Amid the chaos, he was stabbed by another fan, suffering fatal wounds.
Acheampong was dispatched by the GFA to Kumasi to offer condolences to Pooley’s family.
Speaking in an interview with Sporty FM, he disclosed gruesome details of the stab wounds inflicted on the deceased.
According to Acheampong, the medical report suggested that the killer may have been highly skilled in the act.
“If you listen to the medical experts, the person who stabbed him might probably be a killer because where he stabbed him, there was no way he could have survived,” he said.
In response to the tragic incident, the GFA have suspended the use of Nana Konamansah Park by Nsoatreman and temporarily halted the league while investigations are underway. Additionally, Asante Kotoko have announced its withdrawal from the Ghana Premier League in protest.
