Gunmen who have not yet been caught have kidnapped Prof. George Chima, the chairman of the Abia State Independent Electoral Commission. According to Persecondnews, Chima was arrested on Friday while meeting with several teachers from Abia State University in Uturu at his residence in Okigwe, Imo State. The professor was kidnapped from his private residence in Okigwe local government area, which shares a boundary with Uturu in Abia State, after the four kidnappers reportedly drove the visitors away. Imo State Police Command spokesperson DSP Henry Okoye confirmed the event and stated that the state police commissioner has ordered a crackdown on the kidnappers in an effort to free the professor. Okoye promised that agents will make every effort to capture the escaping suspect.
