The Chairman of the newly inaugurated Constitutional Review Committee, Prof. H. Kwasi Prempeh, has lauded President John Dramani Mahama for his swift action in setting up the committee, describing it as a clear indication of his dedication to constitutional reforms.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony on Thursday, January 30, Prof. Prempeh acknowledged the significance of the committee’s early formation, stating that it reflects the President’s commitment to resetting governance in Ghana’s Fourth Republic.
“Your naming and inauguration of this committee in the very early weeks of your assumption of office as president signals to us, the members of this committee, as well as to the nation, the sincerity and seriousness of your commitment to prosecute to the end the constitutional reform agenda,” he said.
Prof. Prempeh assured the President and the nation that the committee members would approach their task with diligence and integrity. He emphasized their dedication to producing a comprehensive report within six months to guide Ghana’s constitutional reform process.
“On our part, my members and I also pledge that we will retain the trust with equal sincerity and seriousness and will pursue our task with the sole aim of bettering the fortunes of our people, setting us on a course of progress and development, and helping you, Mr. President, to fulfill the pledge that you have made,” he added.
