    Tensions are hotter than ever in the rekindled conflict between Ghanaian music group DopeNation and their former labelmate Kuami Eugene. Following remarks made by their former label head, Richie Mensah, DopeNation poked fun of Kuami Eugene in a clever social media post, which sparked the rift. Mensah formally announced Kuami Eugene’s exit from Lynx Entertainment, the company where DopeNation and Kuami Eugene all began their careers, in an interview on Hitz FM.

    DopeNation’s message wished their former labelmate well in surviving the “Lynx curse,” which is the fan-perceived phenomenon that artists who leave the label frequently find it difficult to produce hit songs and stay relevant in Ghana’s music industry. This comment set off the public dispute, in which both

    When Kuami Eugene recently made fun of DopeNation and claimed that they were exploiting a “gym song” to gain social media influence, DopeNation responded angrily, further escalating the issue. They made fun of Kuami Eugene’s haircut in their post and cautioned him against copying music from other artists, alluding to earlier claims that he had taken lyrics and melodies without giving due credit.

    Fans have been split on the issue; some have taken sides, while others have called for Ghanaian artists to work together.
