Former chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA), Alhaji Raji, has expressed optimism about the Black Stars’ chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana reignited their hopes of securing a spot at the tournament with consecutive victories over Mali and the Central African Republic. These wins place the Black Stars in second position in Group I with nine points.

Although Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) for the first time in 20 years, Alhaji Raji is urging unity among stakeholders as the World Cup qualifiers are set to resume in March.

Speaking to Asempa FM, he emphasized the importance of teamwork and leadership in overcoming the challenges ahead.

“Let’s all come together and rally behind the Black Stars despite whatever has happened in the past,” he told Asempa FM.

“We have World Cup qualifiers to play and we will only be able to qualify when we come together and it must start from Kurt Okraku.

“Qualifying for the World Cup is a big task but it is a doable task. Kurt Okraku must initiate the process to bring everyone together for that course of qualifying for the World Cup,” he added.

The Black Stars are set to face Chad and Madagascar in their Matchday 5 and 6 fixtures as they push for a spot at the 2026 Mundial.
