A councilman in New Jersey is under fire after an embarrassing video of him cursing at a cop during a traffic stop has been released.
Council member Theodore Holloway was captured on police body camera footage having a meltdown after he was pulled over for allegedly failing to come to a complete stop at a stop sign.
The cop approached Holloway as he sat in the driver’s seat wearing a beanie and a camo jacket.
Before the cop even arrives at Holloway’s window, the councilman can be heard screaming, ‘You can’t be serious!’. Later in the stop he asks ‘you know who I am?’
Holloway and the officer appeared to have a friendly rapport at first and seemed to know each other. The councilman was quick to press the officer on why he was being pulled over.
When the officer told him he didn’t stop at the stop sign, Holloway looked visibly taken aback as he cocked his head at the cop.
‘I did stop! As much as I can stop!’ Holloway fired back. The cop responded that Holloway ‘rolled through’ the stop sign.
The officer asked for Holloway’s license and registration. He complied but told the officer that he would ‘talk to Gary about this.’ Gary Kille is the police chief of the Paulsboro Police Department. Holloway serves on the Paulsboro governing body.

Holloway then began to raise his voice and curse at the officer. ‘I’m the one that brought you on!’ he yelled before asking the officer if he was ‘crazy.’
‘I put you on!’ Holloway began screaming as he pointed into the officer’s body camera. He then used a string of profanities while he searched for his license and registration.
‘Why are you acting like that?!’ the officer asked. Holloway responded in exhaustion saying that he ‘just wanted to go home.’
‘You’re pulling over an elected official. You’re not pulling over a random. You’re pulling over your boss. I am literally your boss,’ the council member quipped.
Police officers report to the police chief, and the police department is under the mayor’s jurisdiction. Council members have the power to appoint subordinate officers of the city.
Paulsboro Mayor John Giovannitti clarified to a local New Jersey radio station that the council is ‘by no means’ the boss of any government departments including the police.
Giovannitti added that the behavior was ‘uncharacteristic’ of Holloway and described the councilman as a ‘dedicated member of the community’.
Holloway and the officer continued to go back and forth as the council member pushed back, ‘I f***ing stopped, you saw my tail lights!’

The officer maintained that Holloway didn’t come to a complete stop and just ‘rolled through.’ He then went back to the police vehicle to check his license and registration.
In the meantime, a second officer arrived at the scene and approached Holloway’s vehicle. Holloway was quick to ask the officer if he knew who he was.
While the officers waited outside the vehicle, Holloway appeared to call the police chief. ‘Why are you treating me like I’m some motherf***er?’ Holloway said on the phone.
Holloway then told the officers that they were ‘wasting taxpayer money’ and wasting their own money that ‘he pays’ them.
The officer decided not to give Holloway a citation for the traffic stop but did cite him for driving with an expired registration.
The body camera footage was initially obtained by NJ Advance Media and has since gone viral on social media.
The internet was shocked to see the footage and users weren’t shy about their reactions in the comments.
‘Registration expired last year. Doesn’t look good for an elected official,’ one comment read.

‘He needs to step down from his political position yesterday!’ another added.
‘Corruption at every level these days,’ a third wrote. ‘A politician expects and even demands to be held above the law? What a shocker,’ a fourth chimed in.
Constituents have even taken their grievances to Holloway’s personal Facebook account with a flurry of negative comments about the interaction.
‘Councilman You’re not about the law , you’re the reason why the average person hates politicians,’ one comment under his recent post read.
‘Theodore, have you resigned yet after your conduct on a recent traffic stop? People like you who think they’re entitled and deserve special treatment should not be a public servant. Remember that’s what you are…A PUBLIC SERVANT! Resign immediately!’ another added.
Councilman Holloway has yet to publicly respond to the incident. Dailymail.com reached out to Holloway, Mayor Giovannitti, and the Paulsboro Police Department for comment but didn’t immediately hear back.
