PaLrliament has approved another set of President John Dramani Mahama’s ministerial nominees after being vetted by the Appointments Committee of Parliament on Wednesday, January 23, 2025.
The latest nominees to be appointed are Minister of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie; Emelia Arthur, Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture; and George Opare Addo, Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment.
Their approvals came after a debate by the plenary on a report by the Appointments Committee of the House on the vetting of the three appointees, on Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
Here are profiles of the approved ministers
Abla Dzifa Gomashie – Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts
As a two-term Member of Parliament for Ketu South, Abla Dzifa Gomashie is a seasoned politician and creative arts advocate.
Her previous tenure as Deputy Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Creative Arts showcased her commitment to promoting Ghanaian culture and tourism.
She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts (First Class) and an MPhil in African Studies from the University of Ghana, as well as an honorary doctorate in leadership.
Emelia Arthur – Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture
Emelia Arthur, a development specialist, has extensive experience in local governance, natural resource management, and gender inclusion.
With academic credentials from Yale University and GIMPA, she has served as a Presidential Staffer, Deputy Regional Minister, and District Chief Executive.
Her expertise in strategic planning and sustainable development is expected to make a significant impact on fisheries and aquaculture
George Opare Addo
George Opare Addo popularly called Pablo was elected national youth organiser after defeating Ernest Brogya Gyamfi.
He has served twice as Municipal Chief Executive under late Professor John Evans Atta-Mills and former President John Dramani Mahama.
Opare Addo also been the parliamentary candidate for Okere Constituency, on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress on two occasions; in 2008 and 2012.
