The Appointments Committee of Parliament has commenced the vetting process for regional ministers following their nomination by President John Dramani Mahama.
The first regional minister nominee to undergo vetting is Ali Adolf John, nominated as the Northern Regional Minister-designate.
He will be assessed by the committee to evaluate his qualifications and expertise.
Ali Adolf John is an educational professional with extensive experience, having served as a tutor, circuit supervisor, and desk officer within the Ghana Education Service over the years.
He holds a Bachelor of Education and a Master’s in Technology degree from the University of Education, Winneba.
The nominee previously served as the District Chief Executive for Saboba in the Northern Region during President Mahama’s first term.
He has also held significant roles, including serving as the Saboba Constituency Secretary for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
In 2018, he was elected as a Regional Vice Chair of the party. Following the passing of the late Chairman Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila in August 2022, he was appointed as the acting Regional Chairman.
He was later elected as the substantive regional chairman in the party’s regional elections, a position he has held to date.
As Regional Chairman, Ali Adolf John has gained the admiration of the party’s rank and file in the region.
His exemplary leadership played a key role in the NDC’s success in securing a majority of parliamentary seats in the region, as well as recapturing constituencies such as Mion, Nanton, Zabzugu, Tatale, and his native Saboba.
