A Nigerian lady has drawn attention on the internet for trying an unusual method to fry plantains: flipping them in boiling oil with her artificial nails.

The lady @busayonaomi shared a video of the new technique she found for turning plantains online. In the video, she showed how she was able to flip the plantains using her lone acrylic nails, instead of a kitchen tool.

    The video was captioned,

“My girlies! Say no to fork and spoon ,get your nails done and turn that plantain…..🌝🌝”

After showing off, she delicately turned the plantain as it was frying by dipping her fingernails into the hot oil.

Netizens posing as nail technicians expressed amazement as the video went viral, claiming that this is what customers do with their nails and that they are ultimately held accountable for using counterfeit materials.

Some TikTok users challenged her to scoop the plantain with her nails, while others acknowledged that the unusual technique wasn’t new.
