The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Data Bank, Kojo Addae Mensah, has cautioned the Ghana Football Association (GFA) against dismissing Black Stars head coach Otto Addo.

According to him, although the GFA are in a complicated situation regarding Otto Addo‘s future, sacking him would have significant financial consequences, including the payment of a compensation fee.

He also noted that hiring a new coach would require another substantial financial investment, as the new coach might demand a higher salary.

Speaking in an interview with Max FM, Addae Mensah further raised concerns about the limited time for the team to prepare for the 2026 World Cup and the lack of adaptation as another concern that ought to be considered.

“I will not be surprised if they let the head coach leave, but it all boils down to money. There will be compensation fees, and whoever comes in would likely demand a higher amount, so there are various options available to the FA.

“If you bring in a new technical team with only a few weeks to our next match, they will have to understudy, with no opportunity to play friendly matches to assimilate with the players. It’s similar to what happened prior to Otto’s appointment. So, it’s a very difficult situation we find ourselves in,” he said in Twi.

Meanwhile, the GFA are yet to decide on Otto Addo‘s future following his failure to qualify the Black Stars for the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), despite calls for his dismissal.
