The Palestinian Ambassador to Ghana, Abdalfatah Ahmed Khalil Alsatarri, has called on Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku- Agyemang to strengthen bilateral relations between Ghana and Palestine.

The visit, which took place last week at the Vice President’s office, was also an opportunity for the Ambassador to congratulate Professor Opoku-Agyemang on her historic election as Ghana’s first female Vice President.

Welcoming the Ambassador and his entourage, Professor Opoku-Agyemang recalled her “valuable experiences at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO)” during Palestine’s admission to the organisation.

She reaffirmed Ghana’s commitment to fostering strong diplomatic ties with all nations, emphasising the importance of collaboration to achieve shared goals and promote mutual respect.

“This visit has allowed for a reaffirmation of Ghana’s established position and commitment to our relationship,” she said.

Ambassador Alsatarri lauded Professor Opoku-Agyemang for breaking barriers by accepting her nomination as a running mate, which led to her election as Vice President.

He commended her leadership and pledged Palestine’s readiness to cooperate with Ghana for the mutual benefit of both nations.

Touching on peace, the Ambassador emphasised its importance for fostering development.

“For me, peace is very important; that is why I always prioritise it and advocate for it. I am happy to be here to congratulate you, Professor Opoku-Agyemang, and I wish you well in your efforts to contribute to Ghana’s good governance,” he said.

He assured that his office would continue to engage in initiatives to promote peace and maintain strong relations with Ghana and other global partners.

The visit reinforced the mutual respect and cooperation between Ghana and Palestine, with both leaders expressing a shared commitment to advancing bilateral relations for sustainable development.
