This is the moment a blood-stained drunk driver who mowed down a pedestrian threatened to ‘murder the lot’ in a horrifying Snapchat rant.

Steven Flanagan knocked down the man on Front Street, Chester-le-Street in County Durham on August 5, 2021, leaving him with life-changing injuries.

The 33-year-old had been drinking at a pub and was also involved in a fight before he got behind the wheel of his Audi S3.

In shocking footage, a bloody Flanagan filmed himself on Snapchat threatening to put a ‘f***ing shotgun straight through your doorways’.

In the expletive laden clip he said: ‘You need to kill me before you can get me. Because I’m going to come down on your mam’s house, your dad’s house, your sister, your brother.

‘I’ll f***ing murder every single child in your family. I’ll kill your cats, your dogs, your rabbits, I’ll f**ng murder the lot. I do not give a f***.’

When Durham Police played the footage back to Flanagan during a police interview he was filmed smirking as he watched it.

Flanagan, of Houghton-le-Spring, Tyne and Wear, was arrested and charged with assault causing grievous bodily harm with intent, inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent and dangerous driving.

He denied the charges but was found guilty by a jury at Durham Crown Court earlier this month.

The court heard how the victim had been left with significant injuries to his foot and legs and still requires treatment.

He said he also gets flashbacks and has nightmares and has been unable to go back to work.

Flanagan was sentenced to nine years behind bars and also disqualified from driving for 11 years.

Detective Constable Cutter, who led the investigation, said: ‘Flanagan mounted the pavement on multiple occasions and was clearly out to hurt people that evening.

‘He showed a total lack of regard for anyone’s safety and his victim, who had gone to enjoy a few pints with a friend, ended up with horrific life-changing injuries.

‘This investigation has been lengthy and complex and I hope this outcome can help the victim on the road to his recovery.’
