The funeral of famed Kumawood actor C Confion, born Bright Owusu, was marked by dramatic rituals and passionate tributes from his family in Buokrom, Kumasi.

The actor, noted for his contributions to Ghana’s film industry, died on December 20, 2024, at the age of 35.

His abrupt death sparked confusion and curiosity about the cause, resulting in an unprecedented show of rites at his funeral.

Before C Confion’s casket was brought to the burial place, the family’s leader held a traditional libation ceremony.

This entailed spilling a drink onto the ground while imploring the gods to accept the actor’s spirit if he died naturally.

The ritual was accompanied by a potent curse, in which the family head asked that the gods punish anybody suspected of contributing to the actor’s early death.

This dramatic gesture brought attention to the mystery surrounding his death, which had sparked numerous concerns in the community.

C Confion had been hospitalized for a long-standing health issue, which worsened and eventually killed him at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Despite this, speculations spread that there may have been foul play.

Some followers expressed their reservations on social media, thinking that others were to blame for his death.

This sentiment was echoed in the ritual, in which the family publicly denounced anyone who may have played a role in his death.

Other observers, however, noted that C Confion had been dealing with health concerns for years.

He has freely revealed his prior troubles, including his history of substance abuse, including marijuana.

Some criticized the family for blaming others rather than admitting the actor’s previous health issues, which may have contributed to his untimely death.

The somber burial also included touching tributes from C Confion’s sisters, who characterized him as a brother, friend, and confidant.

In a poignant tribute, they discussed the profound link they had with the late actor and how his passing had left an unfillable vacuum in their lives.

They vowed to keep his legacy alive and cherish the memories of their time together.
