Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu believes the poor transitioning of players is a major factor behind the recent struggles of Ghana’s national teams.

The 2009 U-20 World Cup winner argued that effective player transitions no longer exist in the national setup, particularly since his generation.

Badu also suggested that the reliance on already-made players with dual nationality is contributing to the Black Stars’ poor performances.

“If the national teams are not doing well, whatever you do, we’ll talk about it. So, it’s a problem — the transition,” he told Joy Sports.

“How we transition players from the junior national teams to the Black Stars and the quick solutions we want.

“Listen, some years ago, we had a history of how we managed our national teams. It didn’t start with the current FA.

“It has been like this since our time with the under-20s when seven of us were promoted to the Black Stars.”

The Black Stars failed to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations for the first time in 21 years and will not be in Morocco for this year’s tournament.

The team has also failed to progress past the group stage of any major tournament since 2019.
