Ghana international Antoine Semenyo has shared his thoughts on his preferred position on the pitch, revealing that he’s comfortable in any forward role.

Throughout his career, the 25-year-old has been utilised on both wings and occasionally as a centre forward.

His recent deployment on the left wing for the Ghana national team, however, sparked some debate, with head coach Otto Addo facing criticism for the decision.

Despite the discussions, Semenyo is content with playing anywhere across the forward line. “Seriously, I feel like I’m comfortable playing in any role across the forward positions,” he said in an interview with Stadium Astro.

He attributes his versatility to his ability to use both feet, adding, “I’m comfortable playing whether on the left, right or in the middle.”

Looking ahead, Semenyo’s ultimate goal is to play as a number 9. “In my head, the end goal is to be a number 9,” he explained.

“Maybe in the years to come when I’ve built the experience, I’ll eventually transition into that, but I’m not too hung up on that.”

Semenyo concluded, “If I end my career playing on either wing, I wouldn’t complain.”

The forward has enjoyed a productive season at Bournemouth, scoring five goals and providing two assists from wide positions in the Premier League.

However, he has yet to score or assist for Ghana in 2024.
