Nollywood actress, Ivie Okujaye expressed surprise after government officials criticized her for dressing inappropriately to their office, even though she thought it was decent.

The actress shared on Instagram that when she first arrived at the government office, some women criticized her for wearing inappropriate clothing to their workplace, asking if she would wear such a garment to see the president.

Since she purposefully donned the clothing, believing it to be respectable, Ivie wondered if she was exaggerating.

The actress claimed to have worn a white sneaker with a floral dress that nearly reached her ankle. Despite the criticism, she said, the government officials steered the conversation toward asking for a tip.

Viewers speculated that the government offices in Nigeria would only accept dressing similar to the African wears and criticize or neglect whoever dressed in a modern style to their office.

While some netizens claim the actress’s outfit was appropriate and modest, others felt unbothered about her explanation on social media.

@debisframsnigeria Yes. Is not proper. We are Africans.

@iam_kingjosh007 It’s a pattern in Nigeria. They would first want to instill fear in you, so they can later tax you. And guess what! I believe you fell for it. Don’t even lie that you didn’t sort them eventually 😂😂
