Ghanaian Afrobeats artiste, Camidoh, has described his recent BET award nomination as one of the biggest things to happen to him.
Camidoh said this during an interview with UTV, where he expressed his gratitude for being recognised for his music.
The ‘Sugarcane’ hitmaker also pointed out the 3Music Awards and the Telecel Ghana Music Awards as some awards that made him feel appreciated and acknowledged across Ghana.
“I should say VGMA, 3Music, but I’m not too sure. I was nominated for the BET Awards, but I didn’t win. Being nominated alone is a big win for me. It’s not really about the connections I have, but when you bring out good music, people gravitate towards you,” he said.
Discussing collaborations, Camidoh emphasised his openness to working with other successful artistes in the industry.
According to him, he values genuine connections and prefers to take royalties instead of charging for features, especially when collaborating with those who have supported his growth.
“I don’t discriminate, so when anyone who has made it big in the music industry calls me for a feature, I would gladly do it so far as whatever we are doing there is a genuine connection, and I wouldn’t charge the person, but I would take royalties.
“Imagine someone who has helped you grow in the industry calls you for a feature and you charge him; he will be disappointed. So, I think that would create an avenue for me to give them their flowers,” he said.
