The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama on his victory at the December 7 polls.

According to a statement released by the local governing football body, Mahama’s successful re-election bid was a testament to people’s confidence in his leadership.

“Your return to power is a testament to the confidence the people of Ghana have in your leadership and vision for our nation.

“As you embark on your second term in office, the football family wishes you success in your efforts to spearhead the nation’s development and prosperity,” a statement on the GFA’s website said.

The GFA also stated their commitment to working closely with Mahama’s government to elevate Ghanaian football to the highest level.

“Achieving this shared vision, however, requires significant investment in key areas that form the foundation of football development.

“The Football Association believes that with the support of your administration, we would continue to create a thriving football ecosystem that produces world-class players and teams capable of bringing glory to Ghana,” the statement added.

The GFA also extended congratulatory messages to all Ghanaians for ensuring a peaceful environment as they exercised their civic responsibilities.
