Former Kumasi Asante Kotoko coach, Isaac Opeele Boateng, has faulted the chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Jean Mensa, for the furore over the results of some constituencies in the December 7, 2024 elections.

Coach Opeele Boateng holds that Jean Mensa’s failure to provide able leadership is to be blamed for the confusion that has rocked the elections.

He chided the EC for not ensuring a better security system to protect the ballots and ensure that people have confidence in the system.

Coach Opeele is demanding the resignation of Jean Mensa as he holds that the EC under her watch has not shown the capability to handle elections in the country.

“Jean Mensa has caused all this mess. A better system and security would have averted this tension and unnecessary drama. She must resign!” he said.

Coach Opeele’s post comes on the back of the confusion over the re-collation of results from some constituencies.

The Electoral Commission on Saturday, December 21, 2024, re-collated results and announced results from seven constituencies, including Okaikwei Central, Nsawam-Adoagyiri, Tema Central, and Obuasi East, among others.

In all the seven re-collated constituencies, candidates of the NPP won contrary to the earlier declarations.

Meanwhile, the NDC has announced that it will not accept the re-collated results as it had earlier secured a notice of injunction against the conduct of the EC.

Jean Mensah has caused all these mess. A better system and security would have averted these tension unnecessary drama.
